# Instruments

  <Accordion title="Sensor Components">
    Each Scanning DOAS unit consists of a motorized scanner head coupled with a UV-sensitive spectrometer. The scanner sweeps across the sky, while the spectrometer records ultraviolet spectra for analysis.

  <Accordion title="Deployment at Cleveland">
    Two NOVAC scanners were installed at Cleveland — CLNE in September 2022 and
    CLES in May 2023 — on the leeward side where the plume usually passes.
    Operating them as a pair improves three-dimensional constraints on plume
    geometry and emission rate accuracy.

  <Accordion title="Data Flow">
    Processed data are telemetered in near real time to the Alaska Volcano Observatory, archived at the Cascades Volcano Observatory’s VALVE system, and shared with the international NOVAC database.
